Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 February 2026

Discover Orthodoxy is built to help you explore and live the Orthodox faith. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.

What data we collect

  • Account information — If you sign in, we store your email address and name (if provided) to manage your account.
  • Course progress — If you are enrolled in a catechism course, we store your session attendance, notes, and milestone progress to sync across your devices.
  • Bookmarks and notes — Stored locally on your device by default. If you are signed in, they may be synced to our servers so they are available on other devices.
  • Usage analytics — We use PostHog (EU-hosted) in the app to understand how the product is used and to improve it. You can opt out of analytics in the app's Settings screen at any time.

Local storage

All content — daily readings, prayers, liturgical texts, articles, and glossary entries — is stored in a local SQLite database on your device. This means the app works offline. Your bookmarks, notes, and preferences never leave your device unless you are signed in and choose to sync them.

Analytics

On our website, we use the following analytics tools, all loaded only after you give cookie consent:

  • PostHog — Product analytics hosted in the EU. Helps us understand which features are used most and where the experience can be improved.
  • Google Analytics 4 — Website analytics that help us understand how visitors find the site and which pages are most useful.
  • Microsoft Clarity — Heatmaps and session recordings that show us how visitors interact with the website, so we can improve layout and navigation.

All website analytics tools are loaded only after you give cookie consent. In the app, PostHog is used for usage analytics and can be disabled in the Settings screen at any time.

What we don't do

  • We do not sell your data to anyone.
  • We do not share your data with third parties for their own purposes.
  • We do not track your prayer or reading habits individually.
  • We do not use your data for advertising.
