Privacy Policy

What data we collect

• Account information — If you sign in, we store your email address and name (if provided) to manage your account.
• Course progress — If you are enrolled in a catechism course, we store your session attendance, notes, and milestone progress to sync across your devices.
• Bookmarks and notes — Stored locally on your device by default. If you are signed in, they may be synced to our servers so they are available on other devices.
• Anonymous usage analytics — We use PostHog (EU-hosted) to understand how the app is used in aggregate. This data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you personally.

Local storage

All content — daily readings, prayers, liturgical texts, articles, and glossary entries — is stored in a local SQLite database on your device. This means the app works offline. Your bookmarks, notes, and preferences never leave your device unless you are signed in and choose to sync them.

Analytics

On our website, we use the following analytics tools, all loaded only after you give cookie consent:

• PostHog — Anonymous product analytics, hosted in the EU.
• Google Analytics 4 — Anonymous website analytics to help us understand search performance.
• Microsoft Clarity — Anonymous heatmaps and session recordings to improve the website experience.

In the app, PostHog is used for anonymous usage analytics. You can disable this in the app's Settings screen at any time.

What we don't do

• We do not sell your data to anyone.
• We do not share your data with third parties for their own purposes.
• We do not track your prayer or reading habits individually.
• We do not use your data for advertising.

Your rights under GDPR

If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:

• Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification — Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Erasure — Request deletion of your personal data.
• Data portability — Request your data in a machine-readable format.
• Withdraw consent — Withdraw consent for processing at any time.

Data deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by going to Settings > Account > Delete Account in the app. Alternatively, email hello@discoverorthodoxy.co.uk and we will process your request within 30 days.
