About the App

Discover Orthodoxy is a free mobile app designed as a companion for exploring and living the Orthodox Christian faith. It brings together daily readings, prayers, liturgical texts, a comprehensive fasting guide, a church locator, and a full catechism course companion — all in one beautifully designed experience.

The app serves two overlapping audiences: those enrolled in the Discover Orthodoxy catechism course, and anyone curious about Orthodox Christianity. Whether you are preparing for baptism or simply want to learn more about the faith, the app is here to walk alongside you.

Discover Orthodoxy is completely free. There are no subscriptions, no advertisements, and no in-app purchases. It was built as a gift for the community, and it will remain that way.

About the Course

The Discover Orthodoxy catechism course is a structured programme under the Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain. It consists of 24 sessions that guide participants through the foundations of the Orthodox faith — from the Creed and the sacraments to prayer, fasting, and the liturgical life of the Church.

The course is designed for adults who are exploring Orthodoxy, preparing for baptism or chrismation, or simply want to deepen their understanding. Each session includes readings, discussion, and opportunities to ask questions. The app serves as your companion throughout the programme — helping you track progress, take notes, and revisit material at your own pace.

If you are interested in joining a course, contact your local Greek Orthodox parish to ask about upcoming programmes.

About Orthodoxy

Orthodox Christianity is one of the oldest continuous Christian traditions in the world, tracing its roots directly to the apostles and the early Church. With over 300 million faithful worldwide, it is the second-largest Christian communion — and yet, for many in the West, it remains beautifully unfamiliar.

The Orthodox Church is a communion of self-governing churches united by a shared faith, worship, and sacramental life. Its theology was shaped by the great councils of the early Church, and its worship preserves ancient hymns, prayers, and liturgical forms that have been handed down for centuries.

To step into an Orthodox church is to encounter something ancient and alive — the smell of incense, the glow of icons, the chanting of hymns that have echoed through the same spaces for over a thousand years. It is a tradition that speaks to the whole person — body, mind, and soul — through beauty, silence, and participation.

Whether you are coming from another Christian tradition, from another faith, or from no faith at all, Orthodoxy welcomes the curious with open arms. This app is here to help you take that first step — and every step that follows.
